Musical Autumn in Krakow

Musical Autumn in Krakow has been founded by Jan Kalinowski and Marek Szlezer to fill and balance the panorama of classical music festivals in Poland and in the city of Krakow as there was no short, condensed musical event in its’ cultural offer which would combine popular, classical repertoire with promotion of modern music. The program idea of the festival, which has been taking place since 2014, is combining contemporary works and works by Polish composers with the most popular repertoire for presented instruments or ensembles.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Audience,

we are pleased that for the sixth time we can together with the Karol Szymanowski Krakow Philharmonic, invite you to participate in the Krakow Musical Autumn. This year we offer you a series of five concerts and an accompanying concert. This is due to the interest of listeners and the support of our idea by the City of Krakow, which we would like to thank for seeing the festival in the panorama of Krakow's cultural life.

The program of each festival edition assumed the presentation of works by Polish and foreign composers, contemporary works and those belonging to the classics of the repertoire intended for chamber instrumental compositions - so it will be this time too. This year, our invitation to perform the inaugural concert was accepted by the well-known and liked by the audience and appreciated by critics - Lutosławski Quartet, which will present works by Stanisław Moniuszko, Witold Lutosławski and Dmitrij Szostakowicz. On the second day, a duet like we have never had befor at our festival: flutist Ania Karpowicz and pianist Marek Bracha. They will present a program consisting of the works of Mieczysław Weinberg, Tadeusz Zygfryd Kassern and Aaron Copland. On the third day, the concert for four hands: Piotr Różański and Grzegorz Mania will sit at one piano and present works of Antonin Dvořák, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Emil Wojtacki, Władysław Żeleński and Johannes Brahms.
