Musical Autumn in Krakow

Musical Autumn in Krakow has been founded by Jan Kalinowski and Marek Szlezer to fill and balance the panorama of classical music festivals in Poland and in the city of Krakow as there was no short, condensed musical event in its’ cultural offer which would combine popular, classical repertoire with promotion of modern music. The program idea of the festival, which has been taking place since 2014, is combining contemporary works and works by Polish composers with the most popular repertoire for presented instruments or ensembles.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Audience,

we are glad that for the fifth time we can, together with the Karol Szymanowski Krakow Philharmonic, invite you to participate in the Krakow Musical Autumn. On the occasion of this small jubilee, we present you five concerts - one more than it was during previous editions. This is due to the interest of listeners and support of our idea by the City of Krakow, to whom we would like to thank for noticing the festival in the panorama of Krakow's cultural life.

The program of each edition of the festival included the presentation of works of Polish and foreign composers, contemporary works and those belonging to the classics of the repertoire intended for chamber instrumental compositions - this will be the case this time as well. This year, our invitation to perform the inaugural concert was accepted by the artists from Messages Quartet, who together with pianist Daniel Brylewski will perform the Johannes Brahms quartet and the quintets of Grażyna Bacewicz and Alfred Schnittke. On the second day of the festival, coming from Spain, the Bacarisse Trio will present a program consisting of the works of Joaquin Turin, Enrique Granados and Paweł Łukaszewski's Trio. We invite you for a very interesting concert on the third day - it will consist of pieces for piano and a reciter. Performed by: pianist Gajusz Kęska, and Italian actor Angelo Romagnoli. During this concert, the artists will perform the world premiere of Katarzyna Szwed's musical work, commissioned and written especially for the fifth edition of the Krakow Musical Autumn as part of the "Composing Commissions" program of the Institute of Music and Dance. For the concert performed by, Emes Piano Duo, created by two young pianists in 2013, with a program presenting the most famous works of Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johannes Brahms, we invite you to the second to last day. At the end of the festival, the undersigned, the originators of the Krakow Musical Autum will perform, with the program consisting of compositions for cello and piano by Sergiusz Rachmaninow, Tadeusz Majerski, and Ludomir Różycki, and the Polish premiere of the work by Tomasz J. Opałka.

We are happy that you have been with us for five years now!
